2003 PanAm Circuit

Championship Point System

Tournament Points For 5 & 7 Player

A first-place finish in each division (Rookie, Novice & Amateur) of each event (5-player or 7-player) at any of the major PanAm events in the 2003 season is worth 100 tournament points. The points for second place, third place, etc. will be determined by dividing 100 points by the number of teams within the division. As an example: If there were 25 teams in the Rookie division at a particular tournament, then second place would be worth 96 and third would get 92 tournament points. If there were 11 teams in an Amateur division at a particular tournament, then second place would be worth 91 and third would be 82 tournament points. Fractions are rounded to the nearest whole number.

Participation Points

Attending minor affiliated 5-player or 7-player events earns a team participation points. Whether a team refs or plays in an affiliated event, and whether the team finishes in first or last place, each minor event is worth 25 participation points.

The maximum participation points a 5-player or 7-player team can accumulate are 50. A team may attend more than two affiliated 5-player or 7-player events on the circuit, but only 50 participation points will be factored into their overall circuit total.

.

Points for Refereeing

Ref’ing at a major event earns a team 100 tournament points (the same as finishing in 1st place) for that particular tournament. A 5-player team may ref only one major event per season, and a 7-player team may ref only one major 7-player event per season to get ref'ing points. A team cannot earn ref'ing and playing points in the same event. Ref'ing a 5-player event earns 5-player points. Ref'ing a 7-player event earns 7-player points. Points may be deducted by the PanAm staff for substandard ref’ing performances. If a 5-player team wishes to ref a 7-player event, but not take the 7-player tournament points, they will earn 50 participation points toward the 5-player championship.

Transferring Points

Points earned by a team at a 5-player or a 7-player major tournament cannot be transferred to another team, to another division, nor from a 5-player to a 7-player event. A team's name, and the points it accumulates are all considered by the PanAm staff to be the property of the team captain whose name appears on the entry form.

Championship Points For 5 & 7 Player

Championship points in 5-player and 7-player are based on attending all three major tournaments. A perfect score is 350 points in 7-player and 350 points in 5-player.

Tiebreaker

Should multiple teams finish the season with the same total points, the first tiebreaker is; Who finished higher at commonly attended events.  The second tiebreaker is: Who ref’ed during the season.  The third tiebreaker is:  Lowest average of finishes (For example: 2 firsts and 2 seconds = 6, which beats 3 firsts and a fourth = 7.)  The fourth tiebreaker is: Standings going into the final event of the year.

Tournament Points For Stock and Young Guns

A first-place finish at any of the major PanAm events in the 2003 season is worth 100 tournament points.

Championship Points For Stock and Young Guns

Championship points for the Stock and Young Guns are based on the teams three best scores from major events AND their score at the Vegas event.  That brings a total of 4 scores.
